Title: Share music from your site......Not really share but be able to play
Post by: rp_024 on January 11, 2007, 08:22:37 PM
Is there any kind of free php "ready to go" scripts available to add to your site? Basically, I have about 40 gigs of MP3's I'd like to be able to click on from my site and play. Possible?

Someone was trying to do that here a few weeks ago.

I asked a few weeks ago if there were any other cool free php scripts for sites. I read a topic in here for subsonic. But that requires java, and you have to do all of the config. I'm looking for something pre-defined like the joomla's, phpbb's etc.

I looked there but didn't see anything. I like to get idea's from users who are currently using something.

With the little I know about the subject, I think there are no good solutions for streaming mp3 except for something flash or java based.

I found something. It's called Jinzora, and it's free as well.

Ok, installed tomcat. Downloaded subsonic and copied folder and contents to webroot. Tomcat successfully started. Now how do I install the subsonic? I can't find any documentation on sourceforge or the net. Thanks Problazer.

EDIT:
I used the FAQ from

http://subsonic.sourceforge.net/faq.html (http://subsonic.sourceforge.net/faq.html)

But there really isn't any information for installing.

1.  Copy the file subsonic.war to <TOMCAT_HOME>/webapps
2.  Start or Restart Tomcat
3.  Point your web browser to http://localhost/subsonic (or http://localhost:8080/subsonic if you installed Tomcat on port 8080.)
4.  Logon with username admin and password admin. You should change the password immediately.
5.  Subsonic will attempt to create the directory c:\subsonic (on Windows) or /var/subsonic (all other platforms). This will fail if the user running Tomcat doesn't have the necessary privileges. In that case, create the directory manually, and make sure that Tomcat has write access to it.

here is the link where these instructions can be found

good luck
