I get the ouput mysqladmin:connect to server at localhost failed
error 'Access denied for user 'root' @' localhost <using password: NO>

and type

mysqladmin -u root password new-password sarahb

get the same as above

type only mysqladmin -u root

it is all the mysql syntax for the command line

i also tried

mysqladmin -u root -p sarahb
then at the next line it asks for
Enter password: I type here Sarahb

I get the error above except the

/ Uploading to a web host
on: November 24, 2004, 02:00:35 PM
Hi,

My question is about uploading the database and code to a web hosting site. I have it running with youir suite of apache2, mysql and phpmyadmin on my xp home edition.

I have never done this so need a few questions answered.

I am uploading one database and the webroot directory that has all the code I was told I could not upload the php.ini.

So how do I connect to the database????

Do I make a file and what kind would it be?? Does it matter what directory I put the database and webroot on the web host

Is there anything else I should change to run on their site other that in the code for the path.

That you for your help and time and patience.

Are you saying you want to upgrade to SP2?

No, I am saying that I have windows xp home edition and i get the automatic updates from windows saying I need to update to service pak 2 for windows xp home edition and I thought there would be a problem with the suite I downloaded from your site and this service pak.

Then you will need to configure the firewall that comes with SP2 to pass ports 3306 and 80.

Is this still my answer above.

I want to upgrade to mysql 2.0 for the stored procedures it has.

I would like to upgrade to 5.0 for the stored procedures. Has anybody done this and if so, had any problems.

Another question I have is there is an automatic update for my computer
which is the service pack 2.
I have windows xp home edition with the suite running from this site.

Will there be any problems with this and the apache software or anything else?

on: November 05, 2004, 01:52:12 AM
I took the ; out before the sendmail_from = s.buggle@.att.net
and changed it to sendmail_from = s.buggle@worldnet.att.net

This is the whole page of mailtest.php
<?
$recipient = "s.buggle@worldnet.att.net";
$subject = "Test E-mail Message";
$message = "This is the e-mail message.";
$senderemail = "r.buggle@att.net";
mail($recipient,$subject,$message,$senderemail) or die ("Failure");

?>
In the error file it has
[client 127.0.0.1] PHP Warning: mail(): Failed to connect to mailserver at "postoffice.worldnet.att.net" port 25, verify your "SMTP" and "smtp_port" setting in php.ini or use ini_set() in C:\\www\\webroot\\mailtest.php on line 6

Do you have any suggestions?

Having problem with mail fucntion, did this little test and it is giving me the error below in the log directory.

Here is the code:

<?
$recipient = "s.buggle@att.net";
$subject = "Test E-mail Message";
$message = "This is the e-mail message.";
$senderemail = "From:r.buggle@att.net";
mail($recipient , $subject,$message);

?>
I have tried it various ways with the from:etc) or without.
I read another email about the same subject and said to go to the php file and change the code here is that below

SMTP = postoffice.worldnet.att.net
smtp_port = 25

; For Win32 only.
;sendmail_from = s.buggle@.att.net

Help!
