1  DeveloperSide.NET / Building a Web Server, for Linux / Update the Run-Time Linker on: February 22, 2006, 03:41:46 PM
Could some one please help me to better understand what is being asked for me to do in this step and if the proceedure above this was done do I need to update since the libz.so.1.2.3 is older than the current zlib download.

/etc/ld.so.cache will need to be updated with the new zlib shared lib: libz.so.1.2.3

For standard zlib installation...
Add /usr/local/lib to /etc/ld.so.conf, if specified path is not present
/etc]# ldconfig
If zlib was installed with a prefix...
Add /usr/local/zlib/lib to /etc/ld.so.conf
/etc]# ldconfig

or an ftp module for Apache (a bit harder)

For now i would say that is impossible...
There is one for linux IIRC, and one in incubator that has been taken over from convelant but thats for from a release to public.

I am not asking about linux and know this information already.
wu-ftpd
pro-ftpd ect.
Thanks for the help also you might want to read the apache documentation.

I know, I was just providing some more information on what the admin said.

My apologies

You will either need...
an FTP Server running on the system (easy)
or an ftp module for Apache (a bit harder)

I will try both or either one. Doing some reading on the Apache Docs pages. A little confusing however need to learn it so why not study.
If you could give specific directions that would be nice.

Or do you want me to enable ftp and smtp in the add and remove programs under internet information services?

I tried the linux installation guide using Debian "sarge"
Did not work.
What do you think I should do?
Linux/Debian
Windows XP with suite.
You should compile a linux suite as well.
