Hi,

I need help on Apache 2.0.47 in this package.

I follow readme1st-ssl.txt step by step. MYSQL runs fine.
but after apache -k start, I cannot reach http://localhost.

I tried "NET START apache2", got:

The Apache2 service is starting.
The Apache2 service could not be started.

A service specific error occurred: 1.

Suspecting port 80 has problem, i modified httpd.conf to use
8080, same error.

I used drive C. So I need not change any file. I felt it should be
a straightforward setup. Don't know why apache failed.  :?

Thanks for any help.

It is, if you followed the instuctions.  Out of the last 5000 downloads, only about 10 people had problems, and each problem was a result of not updating the $PATH and rebooting or running firewalls/anti-virus software that blocks apache from starting.

look into /www/apache2/logs/error.log
what does it say?

Did you add everything to the PATH?
what does 'set' give up, under the command line?

Do you have msvcr70.dll under /winnt/system32?

Are you running any firewall or anti-virus software?

From what you said, that sounds allot like a problem with the PATH.  Either that, or you did this without a reboot after you updated the PATH.  If I were to take a guess, I would say it was a missing reboot.

if you want to use aspx, use MS's IIS, not Apache.

And no, the only thing this package does is take up port 80, and 3306, which would have no effect on anything else.
