I have WD running on a W32 Sever 2003 virtual machine.
After setting up our intranet on it, I randomly get cannot connect to mysql db and cannot connect to ldap server errors.
These errors are always remedied on a reboot.
Looking through the system when the errors are present, I try to change the user running apache, and I get
"the remote procedure call failed and did not execute"
and i cant change the user running apache--
I went ahead and rebuilt a whole new system from scratch, and I get the same error--yet, this intranet was working on Ubuntu a month ago--so I think it has something to do with WD--
any thoughts?

Usually Apache runs as the SYSTEM user. If you need to change this, you need to stop the Apache Service first [maybe even 'httpd -k uninstall'], and you probably need to give the new Apache user account permissions similar in scope to system. Check here for more info...

Also take a look into file \www\Apache22\logs\error.log

One more thing, comment out the inclusion of mod_security under httpd.conf. It has been know to cause odd problems.
