Hello,

I need to install Zend on my server due to some scripts being encoded.

Can I run the Windows exe install program from Zend without messing up the server?

http://www.zend.com/en/products/guard/downloads   (Zend Optimizer (Runtime for PHP 5.2 and earlier)

I wanted to check before I tried it an killed off files or something.

Thanks for any insight on this!!!

The installer will extract some dlls, place them in a non standard directory (not into php's ext folder) and modify the php.ini file (if it can find it) to load the zend extension. There is no telling which settings it will use (zend optimizer + loader/decoder + etc). But nothing you won't be able to undo/fix with an edit to php.ini.
