one of the Complete Solutions packages (with openSSL)...but wouldn't work. I think there is something missing from the optimized httpd.conf file, which should allow the ASP to work.

Sun One ASP installed adds some few lines to the conf file, but other than that there is something else missing, i think.

Also I tried to use virtualhosts...multiple sites with one IP, but i could get it to work either.

Any ideas?

Whats the point of an optimized httpd.conf if you want to leave everything in, not only that, but also account for every single package or thing Apache2 can do?  With the current setup, your getting twice the speed and half the size, with no garbage.

The only thing required for ASP to run is the asp module, and maybe an extra line or two in httpd.conf.

The old/standard config file is: httpd.conf.old, located right there under www\Apache2\conf.  Which is the std httpd.conf that Apache2 comes with.

You could rename it (take out the .old part) put away the optimized httpd.conf, and restart apache.  Than reinstall the Sun One ASP package.

For now, why dont you put what Sun One ASP added to httpd.conf.

As for the virtual host part, I use the optimized httpd.conf file from this site and have virtual hosting set up just fine.

The procedure was no different than with the standard file.

It just takes some work, like anything else.

For VirtualHosting to work at all, your DNS server needs to point each  virtual domain name to your IP address.

Lets say you have a working server with a domain name www.xyz.com.  Now, you want to add www.abc.com to your server.  When someone types in http://www.abc.com into their web browser, does the name (www.abc.com) get resolved to the IP address of your server?

Uh, well i don't want to leave all the stuff into the conf file, just want the ASP to work as well ;).

now, I did add those lines for sun one asp, but it still did not work with the optimized .conf file. Altough it works with the default .conf file.

I installed the asp the same way to both conf files...but the optimized file just won't let me run the sun one asp. Just made me wonder what in the optimized .conf makes it reject the asp module?

But i guess i'll just rip off the default conf file for my own purposes.

Yes all my addies get resolved to to my web server's ip, and I got the virtual hosting thing solved now...thanks :)

Yea...I know it does add the lines, but seems it won't work if SSL is enabled. If i disable the SSL lines it works.

...wonder why it does that?

Apache::ASP does not do vbscript...or does it? All my ASP clients are using vbscripts with their asp pages.

TD, could you please post the lines that SunOne ASP adds to the default/original and the optimized httpd.conf.  I'll try to help you, but I need to know what is happening.

As fas as SSL, the lines for that in httpd.conf should make no difference, SSL is not even ON, unless you start with 'apache -D SSL -k start'.

Yea...i do have SSL on

I still can't figure this one out tho?

Here are the lines that Sun One ASP adds to the httpd.conf

LoadModule CAsp2AP_Module "C:\WINNT\System32\chiliasp/apachmod20_43.dll"
CaspLib "C:\WINNT\System32\chiliasp"

Alias /caspsamp "C:\www\ASP\Samples"
Alias /caspdoc "C:\www\ASP\UserGuide"

AddHandler chiliasp .asp
AddHandler chiliasp .asa
AddHandler type-map var
