What a headache!

I upgraded phpBB from 2.0.6 to 2.0.8a

Note that if you have a similar problem...

Quote

SQL Error : 1064 You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '608',...

Open up the sql database file and edit the line...
INSERT INTO phpbb_posts_text (
...which has post id one less than the above (in my case the bad post was 607)

Delete the post_text field on that line.

Apparently the phpBB team has not been keeping things backward compatible...
Either that or there is a bug, with which you can cause some serious problems with someone's forum: when you insert the bad code into a post and later on that forum gets upgraded and they do a db restore!

I'd post the code here, but I would have problems restoring; maybe I'll post it to phpbb.com and let them deal with it.

I just found another problem with phpBB, the database restore from 2.0.6 to 2.0.8a has lost all lines that started with a '#' under 'quotes' and 'code'.

It is still under the raw sql file of the backed up db, but it is not in the restored posts.

Here is my post to phpBB.com...
