Got everything going now. I want to upload ipb to my apache server and use it. How do i set up the apache2 to receive files from my ftp and do i need to put a password in apache ? I have read all i can and my basic knowledge aint helping much please help.    :D

I don't know what "ipb" is, but you would generally put everything into \www\webroot

That is the directory that Apache serves content out of.

Invision Power board (IPB) its a forum like this one.   Ok it says this?
If you haven't done so already, create a new directory on your server named appropriately (if you wanted to access the forums via 'http://www.domain.com/forums/', create a directory called 'forums' in the 'public_html' or 'www' directory on your webserver.
So how do i do that? Is it just go to my drive then www then put a folder called forums in it ? Oh I hate not knowing!

I get this error when attempting to open the apache server ?
 Socket connected waiting for login sequence.
    Connection timeout. No response from server.

into \www\webroot\ create dir forums.

well the instructions for ipb say i have to use a ftp to upload the files to my webserver i was attempting to do that when i received the error above? I assume from your reply i do not need to do this? I would appreciate some help on how to do it all though thx IMHO :D

well i managed it at last. I realise now i do not need to use ftp yto upload my ipb data it did it itself with a command. phew! now on to my next problem. lol:D
