Here is another link...
http://lists.mysql.com/win32/15076

Either way, I was going to say to get these files from version 4.0.19, but found out that this version was so buggy that it was pulled a few hours after it made it to the download section.

You can find these files under MySQL version 4.0.18.

I have no idea why the developers have not corrected this matter.  I believe this strarted with version 4.0.20, and now we are at 4.0.20d.

And another problem...
Each time the service starts, it will create two t*** files in the root dir of the drive it is under.  These files are removed when the service stops.

http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=3998

And if the user you are login in with under the OS, is not administrator, or does not have write permissions to the root of the drive, the service will crash.

this version (4.0.20d) reports itself as 4.0.20a

And another one...
There is some empty mysql(base-dir)\mysql\bin directory.

Also, I cannot get the source to compile.  Which was a pain to do in the first place (time wise).

So from now on, I will be using the official build in our packages.

Just to make it clear, the build I have been posting about in this thread, is the offical binary.

MySQL 4.0.21 is out...

Fixed bug #3998, with the two odd files under root dir.

The *.cnf files are also back.
