When trying to create the certificate signeing request and private key using ...]# openssl req -new -out server.csr, I get the error
-bash: openssl: command not found

Considering that the /usr/local/openssl/bin dir is not under the system path...
Every openssl command you run needs to be run from that directory.
The system has no way of knowing where executable 'openssl' is unless you tell it one way or the other.
